Question:
Did you see Al Roker on Today Show this morning?
There was a piece on the Today Show this morning highlighting Al Roker's gastric bypass surgery. It showed Al in the operating room and then an interview with Al and his surgeon. According to the piece, Al had is surgery in March of this year and is down 102lbs to date. I think this made up my mind and pushed me off the bubble. I'm going to go forward with the process and find a surgeon now. Great Publicity!!!! — jaaxo (posted on November 13, 2002)

The best thing about Al coming forward is the inspiration and courage he
will give to so many like you, Jack, to take that first step towards
gettting your life back. Good luck to you-you will always find lots of
support here.

I agree. Great Publicity! I saw both the Today show and the Dateline
coverage of his story. I think the fact that he is a well respected
individual in the media that people will change there opinion of the
surgery. I also think the fact that he is African America was a plus as
well. I've looked through EVERY PICTURE ON THIS SITE

here that have gotten the benefits of WLS. I even think that the one friend
I did choose to tell about my surgery may be changing her opinion of it and
that makes me feel good. Way to to AL!
