How long does it usually take for a insurance company to approve the surgery?

Carla, I have PHS/HealthNet...It took them 2 days back in May and I was
given a 6 month window. I had surgery in August.

I have UnitedHealthcare PPO and it took 4 weeks.

I have Freeport Regional Health Plan/Goodyear.<p>
My wls surgery was approved in less then a week and my breast reduction/
Panniculectomy that I am having on December 2nd was also approved in
exactly 1 week,my insurnace company is AWESOME!!!!

I have Horizon PPO in NJ and was approved in 2 weeks. Good luck. I think in
the library section of this site you can look up the comments of other
folks who have the same insurance you do. It was very helpful to me.

I have Aetna HMO --I was approved in 2 hours--it was unbelievable---

I have Anthem Blue Cross, and was approved the same day !!

I have cigna it took me a week.

24 hours thru HMA (Wa State), but that was after they received it from the
doctors....which took over a week. It would have taken longer if I hadn't
called my surgeon's insurance person and reminded her to send it. Don't be
a nag, but don't just figure they're on the ball either.
