I'm 7 weeks out and eating ham, pork, chicken, fish, yogurt, eggs, oatmeal,
cracker, cheese, Special K. I haven't really tried anything sweet yet or
salad. I can eat just about anything that is protein, only a couple bites
tho. I hope this helps....

June...I am 8 weeks now, but at 4 wks, I had Wendy's Chili for the first
time...Only could eat 1/2 of the small at a time but it is like 200
calories and 19g of protein for the small. AWESOME! The beef is boiled,
so, it goes down really well. Good luck. ALso, try some thinly sliced
deli meat. Like turkey!

I lived on moz string cheese in the first few weeks (still do and am 3
months out). I love(d) Franco-American Spaghetti, runny oatmeal with
splenda, jerky sticks (well chewed), canned LITE peaches, bananas, tuna on
crackers, eggs in whatever form appeals at the moment, fudgecicles - NSA,
popcorn, cooked broccoli, cooked carrots, potatoes, and I love fresh raw
tomatoes and steamed brussel sprouts. Most veggies sit very well on my
stomach. Am finally able to eat cottage cheese again but at 4 weeks
couldn't stand it. I can't stand processed meats, yellow cheeses, yogurt,
bread/toast or ground beef. Chicken I find goes down best when it has been
cooked by someone else - canned or frozen dinners - I think it's been
pressure cooked so it is more tender and moist.

My surgeon's rules post op are no sugar, no carbonation, eat regular food
chewed to a liquid before swallowing. If you can't chew it to a liquid ...
spit it out. Just wanted to clariy this up front, since many surgeons
require liquids for several weeks post op. Mine obviously does not. Early
on my favs were scrambled eggs with cheese, oatmeal, cream of wheat, grits,
NSA yogurt (Dannon lite-n-fit or blue bunny), chili (I am spoiled ... I
only ate homemade), FF refried beans topped with cheese, avocado, black
olives (whatever tastes good and is tolerated) with a few baked tortilla
chips), tuna/chicken/ham salad on crackers (I couldn't tolerate bread in
any form for several months), homemade potato cheese soup, homemade smoked
sausage/cabbage/barley soup, SF jello, NSA applesauce, NSA fudgesicles,
cream of anything soup, and string cheese. It is very, very important to
get in your liquids, especially at this stage. I found that warm liquids
like coffee, hot tea w/Splenda, and NSA Swiss Miss hot cocoa were very
soothing. I kept a sports bottle of water with me all the time and tried
to sip constantly. I found that with the water, at first really cold water
did not go down well ... room temperature worked better for me. I hope
this gives you some ideas. Good luck and God bless.
