I would love to find a local support group in my area.

Have you checked with the surgeon or the hospital where you had your
surgery done to see if they have a support group? If you have - and there
isn't, then suggest this to him. Make up a flyer that he can give to his
other WLS and start a group. You could also click on the Find Peers link
above and look for people in your area of Florida. You could e-mail them
and see if a) they belong to a support group that perhaps you could join
(through another surgeon or hospital) or b) they would be interested in
starting a support group.

Luckily, the Hospital of the University of PA has an excellent support
group that meets the 2nd Saturday of every month. The room we have hit in
(HUP's admissions center) is packed - the nutritionist that runs the
meeting is in the process of securing a larger facility. We also have a
online mailing list thru yahoogroups that has about 120 members that is
