Question:
PLEASE HELP!!! Severe Nausea! Can anyone help??
My dearest friend is 6wks out and having severe nausea. She has a wound infection, and was just released from the hospital for treatment of dehydration. They gave her meds - suppositories, and something to take orally, but the nausea persists. She is sooooo sorry she had the surgery! She is exhausted and depressed. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance. — Deb H. (posted on September 4, 2002)

Deb, a friend of mine had the surgery and was sick for several weeks. She
was nauseous and couldnt keep food down. Her Dr did an Endoscopy 4 times on
her..her pouch opening kept closing up..After the 4th time she has been
fine. I would advise her to contact her DR right away till she finds out
what is wrong!!! Nancy Poe

I agree she needs to see her doctor. I did not have a wound infection, but
I got very sick my 3rd week post op. I was very nauseated for 3wks. I
threw up even though nothing came up and could not eat or drink anything.
I wound up back in the hospital dehydrated and found out that I had thrush
very bad and it had gotten into my esophagus and stomach. I took nystatin
and it cleared up in about a week. Hope she gets better. Surgery October

She does need to see her doctor. The most important thing though, is keeping
those liquids down! Whatever works: water, ice chips, crystal light, sugar
free kool aid, popsicles etc...I got severely dehydrated a few weeks
back...and it is a bad scene. It can make you feel weak, fatigued,
nauseated, dizzy, low blood pressure etc. PUSH the fluids! It is more
important than food intake. Then try to add things like a saltine cracker,
chew slowly and it sometimes helps with the nausea. I dont blame her for
being depressed. She is sick and feels miserable...I feel depressed when I
am sick too. Demand to see the doctor no matter what. Good Luck to her!
