Question:
I do not have insurance and I am trying to get medicaid.

My husband is on medicare and my children are on medicaid. For some reason I was denied. If I try to get on medicaid are there any good chances that I will be approved for surgery. My doctor says yes but I need ins. I live in Maryland. I am 5'3 311 with a bmi of 54.9 Thank you for I am very desparate.    — Sonia R. (posted on July 30, 2002)

This might be a state by state thing, but in Florida where I live, Medicaid DOES pay for WLS if the doctor can provide proof that it's medically necessary. Good luck!!!

I live in Iowa and know several people that are on medicaid and they have had wls. have you applied for it yet? If you have children you should qualify, also goes by your income.Good luck to you, keep us posted!!!!
