Question:
Has anyone changed surgeons?
I am still in the process of getting approved but I feel like it is in my best interest to change surgeons. Has anyone changed, was it a big pain? Any info would be a great help! Thanks!! — Siddy I. (posted on June 26, 2002)

Yes, I changed surgeons right in the middle of doing everything. It was not
a real problem. I explained to the new surgeon that I had already went to a
seminar and that I already did some of the tests. He was great and did not
request I repeat anything. My insurance had him sent a new pre-auth in and
they approved in within about a week. So no it really wasn't a problem for
myself

Yes, I changed surgeons & it was not a big deal. The new surgeon had it
approved with the insurance co. the same day with no problems. Thank God I
changed!

Unfortunately, no matter what surgeon you chose, there is always the risk
of some type of complications. If you no longer trust the surgeon, then I
would guess it's time to look for someone else. Just my opinion.

Yes, I changed surgeons. Even after I had done everything and had a date.
Of course, it set me back a little bit timewise, but I was 100% happy the
decision, so it was worth it. It was really easy, actually...I had my old
surgeon send me copies of all my files and letters from the specialists he
had required me to see and brought them with me on the consult with the new
doc. I had a surgery date for 2 months later when I walked out, and the
new doc's ofice manager had no problem getting the insurance auth. Best of
luck to you. If you feel it's the right thing to do, then do it!

I changed surgeons 2 weeks prior to my orignal surgery date -- the new
surgeon was able to get me in 5 days later than my date and that was great
by me -- I'm very happy with my chosen surgeon...
