Question:
Im am 8 m post op and have lost about 70lbs . I had my tubes tied almost 4 years ago

and now I am about 1 1/2 weeks late Ive been regular before and after surgey (vbg). I have taken 2 home preg test both neg... what else could be wrong with me.    — Jennifer S. (posted on June 24, 2002)

You're body has been through a lot in the past year. It is not uncommon for you to have irregular periods following weight loss. To make yourself feel better see you ob/gyn.

Hi Jennifer. I too went and got a home pregn. test --negative!! My surgeon said it is very typical to have irregular cycle up to one year after surgery. I am 11 months post op and my periods are now getting back to usual. Once I stopped worrying, I rather enjoyed not having a period every month!!! Good luck to you.

Hi, I had a tubal done and six years later was PREGNANT! The fetus ended up dissolving itself, but I was definately pregnant. Also, I took a pregnancy test and it was iffy, so I bought 6 more. I took 4 more test that night and 1 said negative, 2 said positive, and the 4th was another iffy one. I went the next morning for a blood test and yep, I was pregnant. I'd wait another week and take a test again, or go to your doctor for a blood test.

I know of a lady that was very obese and she lost a large amount of weight (about 80 lbs) and she ended up pregnant after a tubilagation. The doctor told her that when she lost the weight that some how the tubes fused back together. She is now the mother to 3 daughters instead of 2 like they had planned. BUT also, your hormones are all out of whack from surgery so maybe that is what it is. Hope all works out for you.
