Question:
I can't find a Seattle, Washington support group
I am having WLS on June 26, 2002. I would feel so much better if I could find a support group. If you know of a support group in the greater Seattle area please let me know. — Ellen S. (posted on May 28, 2002)

Ellen,
I don't have the information off the top of my head, but I am a member of a
Washington State Group Health support group. I have heard them talk of a
support group in Tacoma and one in Camano Island. You can go to the site to
check it out. Good luck.

Hello, and congrats on getting your surgery date! EMOSS (Evergreen Morbid
Obesity Surgery Support) meets every other Tuesday and two Saturdays a
month for support and clothing exchanges. Our meeting place is on Mercer
Island. Feel free to email us for more info if you can't get to the group
site... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EMOSS/join or [email protected]
The Tuesday meetings are from 6-9 at night; one of the Saturday meetings is
for folks who are near or at goal, and they meet from 10 am until noon, and
the other Saturday meeting is for folks considering/researching WLS, and
that one's from 1-4pm. Our 24 hour voice mail line for directions, meeting
dates, and meeting topics is 425-947-4541. GOOD LUCK and I really hope that
we get to meet you! Down 142 lbs at 8 months... 38 lbs to goal! :-)

Not sure where you are, but on the SE end, we have meeting in Puyallup, 2nd

any and all. Support person welcome, too.

Hi!
There is a BRAND NEW Seattle support group starting June 20! We're calling
it Disappearing Acts....just didn't want to use the word "morbid"
if we could help it because a lot of us have had that word shoved down our
throats all our lives.
The first meeting, June 20, 2002, will be a LAUNCH PARTY with all sorts of
prizes and a gift bag with lots of goodies, some drinks (s/f) and a few
munchies, but mostly we are celebrating the start of something a lot of us
AND our doctors have wanted for a long time!
Feel free to call me. Kris Tanner 206-354-7949 or Gwen Sanders
206-546-1481.
We have a permanent meeting place downstairs of a church at 81st and
Fremont, just two blocks west of Aurora. It couldn't be easier to find!
I hope to see you there! We are hoping that this group will be a strong
force in Seattle, each of us helping the other!
Thanks and see you on June 20th! We meet the third Thursday of every
month!
Sincerely,
Kris Tanner
