Question:
Has anyone had pain in the Middle of their back while eating?
It feels like the food is going down my back. Very weird. I am 4 weeks post op Lap RNY. I am on a soft diet. Doesn't happen all the time, but enough to feel strange. ideas? — Hedy W. (posted on April 22, 2002)

I get the same feeling when I am full. It is my full signal. I am almost 15
weeks post-op.Open Rny down 63 pounds. I don't get that same feeling
everytime I eat sometimes it is in my back and other times it is in my
abdomen. Just listen to your body. Good Luck. Nancy

I have the same pain if I over eat even just a little. After the food
passes the pain goes away. hope this helps.

I didn't think it was from overeating...although from the last two posters,
maybe I was wrong. It's only happened to me two times and each of those
times I swear it was from eating too fast. Once it was dry whole wheat
toast, the next it was raw broccoli - I though the texture may have had
something to do with it too.

I am 10 months post op and have only experienced this a couple times after
eating too much. I had to throw up both times then the pain in my back
subsided after about 10 minutes or so.

Thanks for asking this question.....I thought I was the only one who had
back pain from eating. I've decided that it's my signal to stop eating. If
the pain is really bad, I sip a little liquid to help push that food
thru...it helps the pain go away faster.

I've been having that exact pain for the past two months. I'm 9mos post op
and every time I eat to full or possibly a little over the pain is
unbearable. I was told it could be my gall bladder and doc sent me for
tests. Feel free to e mail me after May 10th and I'll tell you the
results.
