Question:
Priority Health may not cover. . . How do you go about getting Secondary Coverage?
How does secondary insurance coverage work? If your husband has insurance through work, which probably won't cover WLS, and you don't work secularly, is there a secondary insurance that can be purchased? Hubby has Priority Health, and they haven't got a great track record for covering this procedure.( We're in Michigan) Does BCBS have a secondary policy for situations like this? I'm asking for someone else. Please help if you can. THank You so much ! ! ! — lerli1 (posted on April 6, 2002)

I know that my little brother has BCBS, and he pays about $350 per mo for
himself and his daughter. That's all I know as far as their rates. I have
noticed that BCBS does approve the surgery, but you probably already know
that. Just give them a call, I don't think they would really tell you over
the phone if they would cover you, but if you can afford the regular
premium, it may be in your best interest to join. Good Luck to you.

Okay, I just looked up "insurers" on this website, and Priority
Health Has approved several patients. I would just begin gathering all of
your medical records, writing a weight loss attempt history, and get going!
E-mail the people who have been approved, and ask them how the process
went, and what they did. (That's what I've been doing for the past two
months, and I already have prior authorization to see my surgeon:) Just be
pro-active, and have faith.
