Question:
Anyone else get sick of the liquid diet?
I am completly sick of my liquid diet. I am 2 weeks post-op and I have 2 more weeks of it. Would I be hurting anything if I had something pureed? I am not really hungry but the liquid consistency is really getting to me now. How about some cottage cheese? thanks — [Anonymous] (posted on February 24, 2002)

Well, each doctor is different and I don't want to tell you to do something
against what your surgeon says. It's probably best to listen to your
surgeon's orders. I would call and find out for sure first, but I can tell
you that my doctor is having me begin pureed foods the third week post-op
(after being on the liquid diet for two weeks), so it must not hurt
anything too bad. The first six weeks after surgery are the most crucial
because your stomach is healing down to it's new size. Maybe your surgeon
is just making sure that you don't interfere with the healing process in
any way, shape, or form.

My doctor seems to be more lenient. He has cottage cheese listed on his
menu for first 2 weeks under Full Liquids. I bought the small curd kind
because I read about other folks having to wait for 3 weeks and I have 1/4
cup a day with no problem. It's no cure for diet boredom though!
