Question:
I have divuticulitus and get stomach pains if I don't get enough fiber.
This requires alot of fiber, and I mean alot.Has anyone dealt with this condition successfully after by-pass.?(I've tried Milk of Magnesia, it doesn't help) — Jean B. (posted on February 14, 2002)

Hey there, I don't have your condition, but I had severe constipation a
couple months after surgery. I took Psyllium Husk Caps on the Aktins
diet.(read about it in his book)It worked great without making me feel like
I was taking a laxative, just made things normal. I asked my surgeon if I
could start taking it again, and he said yes. I now take it everyday.A
"dose" is up to 3 servings, I get by with 2.It needs to be pure
psyllium husk caps, no soy fillers etc... I use Yerba prima brand. Of
course you need to ask your Dr. about taking this, but it works great for
me, and I don't worry about any unatural chemicles. Good luck... Marie

I have diverticulosis, diagnosed in 1991. Have not had a flare up with
diverticulitis since pre-op, 1993. Being post-op seems to have helped the
situation in some way, though I'm not too "up" on the details of
this.
