Question:
Am I doing something wrong? I am nauseous...
I am 2 months post op and I am frequently nauseated - 6 or 8 times a day. My remedy for this has been to eat a saltine or a few goldfish crackers or pretzels. Am I doing a bad thing here? As far as my eating I frequently don't eat my 4 tablespoons and feel full, but as soon as I get that sick feeling I go for the pretzels and they seem to help. I don't eat like a ton, but a few, maybe 5 or 6. If I'm not in a position where I have something to eat, then I don't, but if I have some pretzels or crackers sround then I will. Could I be doing damage? And, is there something in a pill I can take for nausea? — [Anonymous] (posted on February 13, 2002)

As for your last question regarding pills for nausea-YES there are things
you can take for nausea. Call your doc. and ask what he recommends. Happy
losing ;)

I am 5 weeks out and also nauseated much of the time. I take reglan for the
nausea 4 times a day. It helps a bit. The worst trouble I have with
crackers is they are too easy and then I am full and don;t try hard enough
to get the protein down. SO, now I try to eat alittle cheese or cottage
cheese with the crackers and call it a meal. I also take a liquid protein
supp and I am told it gets better. hang in there!

I say if the few pretzels help you then go for it. It beats taking drugs I
think.

I had nausea for the first 8 weeks. The doctor gave me pheneragen (sp?)
and it helped tremendously. You could also be getting the nausea if you're
not eating at least 800 calories a day.
I still take the phenergen when I eat a little too much and get that
feeling. After about 10 minutes it goes away.

Are you getting LOTS of water, real water? I am particularly weak in this
area & if I am slacking, I feel lightheaded, weak, nausea sort of all
over, in short, LOUSY. Sometimes just 6 oz of water perks me back up. If
the carbs are giving you a case of the guilts, can you try a bit of hot
herbal tea? Sometimes that relaxes the pouch. Then, of course, the final
one is to get an appt with your doc & get an eyeball down in there
& make sure there is nothing odd going on, OK? Yes, there are lots of
meds to help with nausea, BUT first you find out WHY, then you fix, right?
