Question:
Is tofu a good post-op protein?

My surgery isn't scheduled yet, but I'm just looking ahead! I'm a vegetarian and was wondering if anybody had any experience with using tofu as their protein post-op. I was especially thinking of the silken kind that you can mix with juice and turn into a very smooth milkshake or pudding. Thanks!    — Susan B. (posted on February 4, 2002)

Tofu is a fine source of protein post-op and it is often even recommended since it tends to be easy on the stomach. Good luck!

If you have any recipes for silken tofu you would like to share please e-mail me. I was a vegetarian for years before my weight loss surgery and I would like to go back.

I eat tofu and love it. It is an easy protien for me to chew and get down into my pouch. Plus I like soy meat too.

Hi, I had my surgery on Jan. 8th, and have been eating tofu for the past 3 weeks. It causes no problems for me and my surgeon told me it was okay. I'm not a big fan of chicken or beef broth, so I went to my local Japanese market and bought some instant Miso soup packs, instant Wonton soup packets and other misc. Japanese soups. I cut up my tofu and put these in the soup . . . very tasty. Good luck to you!
