Yes, I came very close to dying, I aspirated into my lungs and spendt 2 1/2
weeks on a ventilator. And this was after the surgery when they were just
placing a G-tube. They didn't expect that I would survive, and told my
family so. I did! I just think people should know surgery and anesthesia
always have a risk of complications and the possibility of death.

My doctor lets his patients choose lap or open if they are under a certain
BMI but he said Lap has more risk because it's a longer surgery and the
longer your under the more risk there is in fact he keeps lap patients in
the hospital for 3 days instead of 2 days for open. There is also a higher
risk of complications such as a leak with lap. You should ask your surgeon
to explain the differences to you.
