Question:
I am 4 months post op and down 80 lbs. Where I once had 4 chins I now have a lot of
loose skin. Are there any exercises that will help this or am I doomed to a face lift at 45 ? — [Anonymous] (posted on December 5, 2001)

Dieters face, ugh. Give yourself a chance. I have lost 278 lbs and have not
had a face lift.
I am 42 and just have a little bit hanging now. Water and exercise helps.
Your face will probably fill out and change over the next year or two.
It took me about 2 years for my face to look decent again. LOL

This varies from individual to indivudual. I didn't encounter
this particular problem. But, if I were in your shoes, I'd start
saving for a face lift when your weight has stabilized. My sister
who is 10 years younger and lost 90lbs. (by dieting) did have this
problem...big time. It was totally unexpected because she didn't
have a "double chin". But she lost weight in her face and neck
and
truly needs cosmetic surgery. There are no exersizes that can help
....don't even waste your money on the gizzmos you see on the home
shopping channels. Some people need panni's...some brachioplasty...
some breast reoconstruction....and a small percentage need facelits.
The luck of the draw.....

I had LOTS of saggy skin but in the last month its started shrinking
nicely. I am not 5 months post op but down 96 pounds and 44 years old. You
cant fix every problem in a day, give things time to work out......
Tomorrows problems will be there TOMORROW....

Try this exercise.. From a sitting postion, throw your head as far back as
you can. Open your mouth as wide as mouth as wide as you can. Close and
open your mouth, while sticking your lower jaw forward. you should feel a
stretch. do for 10 rep x 3 and work your way up.
