Question:
Anyone else cranky before surgery?
I'm a very optimistic and even tempered person, but as the big day gets closer and closer I find myself very short tempered and cranky. I suspect its the stress of knowing I'm having surgery, that I'll be away from my job for 6 weeks and that generally my normal routine will be upset. Has anyone else felt like this? And if so, how did you deal with it? Thanks! — Pamela P. (posted on December 3, 2001)

You're normal. Worrying about work and what you can/can't do
after surgery; worrying about the weight loss and all sorts
of other things make us cranky or weepy, and then there's
just plain being scared (consciously or unconsciously).
Good luck!

Stress, loss of control, uncertainty, wondering about your decision,
scared, trying to get everything ready, etc. Yeah, cranky sounds pretty
normal with surgery around the corner.
I kept on waiting for them to cancel surgery, my journey was long and hard
with my insurance. I kept waiting for the other shoe to fall. It all came
together and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. It was the best
thing I could have ever given myself.
