Question:
I have recently started to have burning and pain in my abdomen. I am 21 months post
op and am concerned about this pain. I have a gall bladder ultrasound and all was okay. Recently had a lower GI and am having upper this week. Anyone else have these symptoms post op? I am wondering if it could be ulcers or a staple problem. I guess i am getting a little scared. It hurts to eat! Diana G. — Diana G. (posted on October 29, 2001)

Hello,
I am 4 months post-op from a VBG. I have been experiencing a burning kinda
tearing feeling for about a week now. My surgeon is out of town till
mid-November so I went to my Primary Dr. I have to go to have a Upper GI
tomorrow. He said my symptoms sound like a hernia, however I do not have
the lump that is associated w/hernias. From all of the research I have
done on this website it could be just about anything from a pulled muscle
to a disrupted staple line. I don't want to frighten you because I am
frightened enough on my own. Have any of your tests turned up anything?
It is a frustrating feeling. It does not hurt me to eat. I just cannot
cough, sneeze, twist my upper body or bend over to tie my shoes w/o feeling
like my insides are tearing apart. If anyone has insight I would be
greatful for the help also. Good luck and stay positive.
