Question:
Is this normal Eating?
I'm about 20 days post-op and have only been eating about 2 onz. twice a day; is this normal? I haven't been hungry very much I haven't had too much trouble keeping food down. BTW I had the Biliopancreactic diversion without the DS. — sherri W. (posted on October 21, 2001)

I was definitely eating more often with my BPD/DS at 20 days. A typical
day for me back then was a protein drink in the morning, an oz. of cheese
mid-morning; 1/2 c. chicken or beef at lunch; 1/3 protein bar mid
afternoon, and another 1/2 - 1 c. of food at dinner. -Kate-

Well, it's "normal" for you. We all react differntly to surgry.
I'm still amazed at people who are eating solid food a week or
two after surgery. My experience was closer to yours. I had
absolutley no appetite for the first month. I had no nausea..no
pain...no vomiting...I felt fine. I just had no desire to eat.
I could only eat 2-3oz. at a time. My surgeon wasn't concerned;
but, he did suggest that I eat multiple little, tiny meals so that
I would get my nutrients. I at 4 times a day and sipped water all
day to get my fluids in. It was hard...but...this phase only lasted
a month. I adjusted.
