Question:
Has anyone tried to get life insurance after WLS?
I presently pay an exhorbitant amount for life insurance, having been prorated due to my weight. If I loose a substantial amount of weight from my surgery (July 6, 2001) will I be able to get a lower rate term policy, or will the fact that I have had WLS count against me. Any insurance agents out there in the AMOS world that can shed some light here, or anyone who has gone through this? — Annette S. (posted on October 5, 2001)

Yes I applied pre op and was denied, denied and denied. Now that I am post
op (7weeks)I did apply again and was told that my premium would be $16/m
for 75,000, but that I would have to wait till 6 months after surgery date
to get it!!

I applied (with USAA) and was denied based on "increased mortality
risks associated with gastric-bypass surgery." But that's the only
company I applied with. May try again with someone else eventually. Or I
may not.
