Question:
Any post-ops w/throat problems, such as swelling, unable to eat/drink?
I am 3-wks. post-op, was doing great, then had to be hospitalized because I was unable to swallow anything, not even my saliva. So I was put on an IV, and had to have my saliva sucked out, thru a dental like suction tube, so not to gage on my saliva. Then put on a liquid diet, 2-days after being realeased from the hospital, my throat only will allow liquids to pass thru my throat easily, but still some discompfort. I was told this was a normal side affect of this surgery. When will my throat heal? Anyone else with this problem? I know I had the tube thru my nose/throat during & a few hrs. yet after my surgery. Connie, I'm 7 weeks post op and experiencing a similar problem. I can't
swallow anything unless it is liquid or pureed. I'm scheduled for a GI
series and possibly another endoscopy to see why my esophagus is
constricted. My Gastroenterolgist asked me if I had a tube inserted after
my surgery. He said, that could be the problem, although I had no tube.
Follow-up with your doctor...eating has become a nightmare for me.
