Question:
How many ways to get BMI??

My Ins. co. states that I need a BMI of 40 and comorbids. They claim my BMI is 32.5. I weigh 220# and am 5'2". Is there another chart used by ins. cos.? The chart on this site gives me 40.2 I am s-o-o-o down that it hurts. They claim my Dr. sent them the #'s. I can't understand this whole mixup. How can I fight the big guys? It is a PPO and we are self insured. I am hoping my regional manager can intercede. HELP! What charts are there?    — blank first name B. (posted on June 26, 2001)

According to the website http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ you are correct - your BMI is 40.2. According to the website http://www.caloriecontrol.org/bmi.html your BMI is 40.3. and according to the website http://www.kcnet.com/~marc/bmi.html your BMI is 40.3 AND according to this website your BMI is 40. There are many websites that will calculate your BMI and they all say your BMI is 40+ Don't let your insurance company play games with you.

Well,I am so-o-o naive. The ins.co. had my ppwk. mixed with someone else! When I asked the nurse to read it to me the discrepancies were astounding! Anyway , she will get the right ppwk faxed to her on Monday..she is off Friday. AND she said if everything is what I claim she will approve it immediately. She apologized for the error. Go figure. Now I pray she means it! Thanks for your help. Just having someone believe in you is wonderful!
