Question:
What can I expect if I need a surgical reversal for a proximal RNY?
Due to health complications, I may need a surgical reversal for a proximal RNY surgery. As far as the surgery, post-op recovery, and complications, will it be similar to what I experienced with the orginal surgery? Like stay in hospital, pain level, time to recover, etc. Or different? I'd appreciate any information that anyone has. Thanks! — [Anonymous] (posted on May 10, 2001)

AMOS member Jim Keithley recently had a reversal. Contact him for his
experience. Good luck.

I've had numerous open abdominal surgeries (c-sections, gallbladder,
incisional hernia repair, RNY, hysterectomy) and they all have similar
recovery periods and time in hospital and pain levels. I don't know about
the actual reveral surgery itself, but the other items should be similar.
I wish you the best.
