Question:
Has anybody heard of insurance paying 50% of the allowed costs of this surgery?

They told me that "if" they approve it they will only pay 50% of the allowed costs i.e. Cost is $20,000 and allowed cost is $16,000. $4,000 the hospital or dr has to write it off and the insurance pays $8,000 and I am stuck with $8,000 plus deductable and $9.50 out of pocket. Is this a nice racket or what. Sure glad that the number of people in the united states that has health insurance is going up. Stat's look real good.    — buhret (posted on May 9, 2001)
