Question:
Is anyone experiencing very bad noxious gas fumes? I know this is a disgusting quest

I am 13 months post-op and have very bad gas! I am driving my family out of the house and car. It is getting to the point of not being funny anymore. I have reached my goal weight and my mom seems to think it may be the types of foods I am eating. It is extremely bad. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me and am I doomed to a life of being able to clear a room!    — [Anonymous] (posted on July 18, 2000)

I have a distal gastric bypass, so yes, I can clear a room. A BIG room! But things that aggravate it are milk products (not cheese, just those containing lactose, usually), sugar and for some, fats. You can delete the milk & sugars first, that's the easiest. THEN, you can check out special antibiotics that help control the bacteria in the colon.

I would say that it is your diet. Alot of foods will cause gas, just a few would be beans, brocilli, cabbage, and of coarse milk, and ice cream, also radishes give me horrible gas. open proximal RNY July 7th...20lbs gone forever

Hi, Try using some beano. I occasionally have the same problem but it comes and goes. I am constipated alot, too so I think that has something to do with it. Hope this helps!

I have the problem at work. Having my own office doesn't even help, but thank God I am not in a cubicle! Fortunately, I have very understanding co-workers and a big can of airspray. Meanwhile, what has worked to help control some of the smell is eating kefir, the 'good' yogurt, chlorophyll tablets, and double doses of Gas-X, which, unfortunately, doesn't come in suppository form...Fondly, Merri, who cannot wait to known longer be known as the fat girl who farts alot...

I thought it necessary to post so those reading this question and its answers would know that this is not a side-effect to the surgery for everyone. I had open RNY on 4/4/00 and have not had a problem with gas - however, its a trade-0ff cause my hair is falling out like mad! LOL

I don't have ANY gas, and think that is odd as I hear that is a common complaint. I was wondering if you drink carbonated beverages?? I don't drink any and wonder if that is why I don't (not that I am complaining)
