Question:
How do I find the total sugar in wine?
Please don't flame me. I would like to have a VERY small glass of wine for New Year's Eve and am not having much luck finding anything but calories/fat/protein amounts in wine. I am 8 months post-op and only have 1 or 2 glasses of wine at New Years as a pre-op....this year I'd like to do a toast and have a couple sips only. — Dedicated (posted on December 30, 2004)

Go you. My doctor's group allows a glass of wine after 6 weeks post-op. I
am only 11 days, but it is worth the wait for me. Happy New Year!

Tina-The Sutter Home web site has nutritional info on their wines -
http://www.sutterhome.com/html/wine/nutrition.html
<p>
The White Zinfandel, which is what I usually drink, has 108 calories, with
less than 1g of protein, 0g fat and 8.3g of carbs. So you know it's not
going to have more than 8.3g of sugar and probably has somewhat less than
that since some of the sugar in the grapes is turned into alcohol by the
fermentation process. I dump on sugar, but I can have a glass of White
Zin with no problems. JR

No flaming here. You go girl. Just because we had surgery doesn't mean we
can't be normal. The secret is in not overdoing anything. I'm thirteen
months out, have lost 180 pounds and I enjoy a couple of cocktails now and
then. Honestly, it's only been about the past six weeks or so that I could
tolerate them. I did have a glass of wine right around eight months out
but didn't really enjoy it. Then again, I'm not a wine drinker. Enjoy
your toast and have a wonderful new year!

I don't know where to find nutritional info on wines, but it is my
understanding that in order to be considered a California wine there can be
no added sugars. I stick to California wines and haven't had any trouble
yet. Cheers!

I have no problems dumping with wine... But like many other posties it hits
me hard and fast so take it slow. It only takes a small glass to make me
feel like I have drunk the whole bottle.

Go to this website and look up wine. www.calorie-count.com It shows
sugars. It is very little and ok to drink. Just remember it doesn't take
much to make you drunk now. AND please don't drink and drive. Hope this
helps...

My doctor told me I could drink after 6 months post op, and other than I
might get much drunker much faster and I might dump on the sugar... he was
ok with it. You know, not to excess etc. Have a great new year.
