Amy, I don't have an answer, but I also have the same insurance, and I am
having problems with coverage. They told me that they no longer cover
obesity related items. Well last I checked I'm not having this because I am
obese anymore, I am having this for medical reasons. Back pain, severe
pains in my abdominal area, feeling as if I am being stabbed, I break out
in a rash around my belly button, but no other areas. So to me this is not
for obesity, nor is it cosmetic, because my clothes cover this, it is
medically necessary, I am in pain!!! So we are trying to appeal this
decision, but a lot of insurances have new policies starting just this
year. If I hear of a way I'll keep you posted, please do the same for me!!
I'll keep you in my prayers. Rosie

I have Humana HMO and was approved a couple of weeks ago for
abdominoplasty. I started out as a lightweight and have lost 110lbs. I
don't have a large apron at all but what I do have has caused rashes. My
paperwork and pictures were submitted on Friday and I was approved Monday
morning. I guess it all depends on who reviews your case at the insurance
company. Some approve them right away while others don't. Good Luck.

I too have Humana HMO these days. My first request for Abdominoplasty were
denied, as weight loss procedures are not a covered expense. We are
currently appealing, as I think the weight loss thing is already done!
Don't know what else to say, but am curious to see other answers.
