Question:
At what point do you consider removal of the excess skin?
What documentation is needed to have removal covered by insurance plan? Anyone had excess skin removed? Comments? — Marion J. (posted on January 2, 2004)

I had my tt/mr/br about 9 months after my wls, mine was completely covered
by my husbands insurance, I never had any rashes or anything like that,I
did have alot of excess skin on my stomach and my breast were more like
tennis balls in a tube sock,, my plastic surgeon told me it's all in the
wording to the insurance company, we have an excellent insurance company...

Hi. It all depends on your symptoms and your INS company...what they
define as "medically necessary." Skin rash, the amount of
overhanging skin, and other issues determine if they will cover the
procedure. A lot of the success requires a dedicated office staff to deal
with the INS company. Good luck.

You should only have plastic surgery when your within 20 pounds of your
goal weight. You then get the best results. I've had an abdominoplasty,
liposuction on my upper arms, modified brachioplasty on my upper arms and
will have an inner thigh lift in a few months.
