Question:
Why does my insurance cover the surgery and not all the pre-op tests?
I was wondering if anyybody had any info. on appealing the insurance company for pre-op tests. I was told they only cover the surgical treatment of it. Obviously you have to have the tests before! They approved the pre-op x-rays, ultrasound etc. But not anything else. This adds up to over $1000 anybody has any letters or anything? — Heidi S. (posted on November 11, 2003)

I had to send in my insurance approval letter in with my EOB"s
(explanation of benefits). My Dr.s visit was not covered. When I faxed the
approval letter, they reprocessed the claim, and it was paid. Hope this
helps..

I don't have an explanation for you, but if the insurance is willing to pay
for everything but about $1000 then be THANKFUL!! A lot of us had to shell
out more than that or it my case, ALL of it and I'll be paying for it for
years!!
To my way of thinking, you're very lucky!!

1000 dollars is not bad to pay. Be glad that your insurance covers the
surgery. My insurance covers all the tests 100%, however I have to pay 20%
on everything else. I am looking at about 5000 dollars. Other peole have to
pay a lot more. Hope everything works out.
