Question:
1 yr. post op and 3 months pregnant
I am 1 year post-op and now 3 months pregnant. I have been stable on my weight now for the last 3 months. I have done everything I can to eat what I am supposed to, but for some reason I still lost 2 pounds within 1 1/2 weeks. Any advice from someone that has gone through this? What can I do to get more calories in throughout the day. — schmlae1 (posted on May 19, 2003)

I got pregnant at 3 months post op surgery and know have a healthy 2 1/2
month old baby boy! I didnt gain any weight through out my pregnancy. In
fact I lost about a total of 70 pounds while I was pregnant. I didnt have
any problems with my pregnancy and he was almont 7 pounds when he was born.
and he was 3 weeks early. My Dr. told me that the baby will take what ever
it needs from my body regardless of losing the weight. He just wanted me
to make sure I got regular Ultrasounds and take Vitamins and b 12 shots.
that is pretty much it. He told me That I shouldnt worry about eating extra
calories because the baby will get what it needs from my nutrient stores in
my body. hope this helps. Also I am at goal 145# was 270# lost most of my
weight while pregnant:0) check out my profile!good luck with your beautiful
baby.

Are you seeing a high-risk OB/GYN? You may be already, but if not, I
suggest you see one b/c they should be familiar with WLS and what to
expect. Also, look up "pregnancy" on the search here and you
should find some helpful things from others who have gone through this,
just in case you don't get enough responses here. How many meals are you
eating? B/c we are so limited in the quantity of each meal, the frequency
should be increased in your case. Eat every 2 hours, and that way you
should be able to get in atleast 6 small meals, hence more calories and
nutrition. Goodluck to you and congratulations :-)
