Question:
Does anyone know why almost every night my face gets red?
My boyfriend says it looks like I have a mask on. It's really pretty strange. Both my cheeks (top ones LOL!) and across my nose gets very red . . . anyone else have this? Thanks for your input. (I am 6 wks. post op) — Suzanne M. (posted on March 25, 2003)

This may have nothing to do with your wls. Have you ever been checked for
lupus? A serious disease, to be sure, but the mask-like redness is often
associated with lupus. Tests to determine if you have it are often
inconclusive, but that's what first came to mind when I read your question.

It could be your multi-vitamin you are taking. This happened to me because
of Niacin. I had to take an asprin 20 minutes before I took the MVI --

i just recently heard someone talking about a "niacin flush", i
had not heard about it before. also look into any other meds or different
foods you may be eating. be sure to check in with your doctor.

Does this only happen at night? If it does, it probably IS just excess
niacin. My dad was actually prescribed high dose niacin for cholesterol
problems. He got that red-face thing going too...take an aspirin before
bed, that will help.
