Question:
The BMI calulattor puts me at 33.5 my fat calculator scales says 40...

Anybody know which is more accurate historically - like if you had your checked at the Dr? I am 5' 2", 183 lbs and where size 14-16.    — sara J. (posted on October 24, 2002)

BMI (body mass index) is not the same as the percentage of FAT in the body. They are two completely different measurements.

Go by the BMI calculator. It's what the surgeons (and insurers) use to determine your eligibility. I am 5'1" and 212 lbs and my BMI is just over 40.
