Question:
I was wondering what some of your
were. My surgery is Tuesday morning (10/22/02) and my husband is taking me to the Olive Garden (my favorite restaurant. — J. W. (posted on October 20, 2002)

I still love going to Olive Garden. The only difference now is I have half
of my meal for lunch the next day.

I love the Olive Garden too! Just remember that this won't really be your
"last meal." I had my RNY on 9-26-02 an I can already go out and
enjoy just about anything I like but lots smaller portions. I've lost 46
pounds and feelgreat. My only advice to you is be careful how much you eat
right before surgery. It can wind up making you feel awful after your
surgery if your surgeon doesn't do a bowel prep. I learned the hard way:(
Good luck on your surgery!! It was the best thing I've ever done for yself.

I last suppered ( Pigged out ) Till I was honestly sick of eating. But I
can and do eat anything just in smaller quanties. Good wishes on your
surgery, soon you will understand. POST OP IS THE PLACE TO BE!!!

I love going to Olive Garden post-op 1yr. I love to start out with the
pasta fagioli soup and then I get the eggplant parm. I end up bringing most
of it home but theres no waste.I don't ask for the kids meals either since
most take homes can be reheated for the next day.

Hi there! I did my "Last Supper" at Country Buffet. But I did
it a couple of days before surgery. I was told by my surgeon not to
"pig out" at least a full 24 hours or more before surgery. As
not to have my bowels full. So I did it a couple of days before and ate
smaller meals right up until the night before surgery. I had no
complications and am now almost 3 months post-op and down 60 pounds. Good
luck on an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery! :)

I also still love going to Olive Garden post....just no bread and plenty of
leftovers. My husband took me to my absolute favorite before surgery,
Carrabbas Italian Grill. I still eat there now too on occasion!

My hubby and I went to Burro Loco here in Myrtle Beach. It is a fantastic
Mexican place. I had my usual- chili con queso w/ tortilla chips (my
favorite!) and then Pola Sabrosa (grilled chicken breast w/ BBQ sauce and
monterey jack cheese) with refried beans and cheese. Man, my mouth is
watering now! I wanted refired ice cream, but I was stuffed. My hubby
ordered one and I ate two small bites of it. I look forward to going there
again. Of course, I'll be bringing home a doggy bag to nibble on for a
week!! I haven't eaten at Olive Garden in years, though I do like their
spaghetti and meatballs. There are so many great resturants in the Myrtle
Beach area, I forget that there is an Olive Garden here too! Good luck to
you!!!!

I last suppered at Olive Garden. I had it in my head that I was never
going to be able to eat pasta or bread again. Of course, 4 months post-op,
I can (just in tiny amounts). I had the tour of Italy, salad, bread, and
lemon cheesecake for dessert. Now I am really amazed at what I used to be
able to eat. I ate there the night before surgery and my surgeon doesn't
require a bowel prep. I just apologized to the surgical nurses ahead of
time in case I made a mess. =)

Two nights before my surgery, my friends took me out to The Cheesecake
Factory. We all were dressed up and we did the whole thing. We had an
appetizer, dinners, and seven layer chocolate cake. It was yummy, but I
know that I can not do that anymore. I'll take compliments on how great
I'm doing instead of the chocolate cake anytime. =)

Where didn't I go? This is probably weird, but I had 2 months notice from
the time I was approved until surgery so I made a list of all the
restaraunts that I loved and the dishes that were my favorite there and all
the new restaraunts that I hadn't been to yet. Anytime we wanted to go out
to eat (usually 3-4 times a week) we had to go to a place on my list. We
finished the list 2 days before my surgery. Since I had the opportunity to
'say goodbye', I don't have the cravings for those rich dishes and desserts
post-op.

I went to Outback Steakhouse for a thick steak. At 16 months post-op, I
laugh about that because I now find steak easier to eat than chicken,
although of course I can't eat a lot of it. Oh, I also ate an entire
carton of Ben & Jerry's Bovinity Divinity for lunch the day before
surgery. That is something I most definitely cannot do now! More than a
bite or two of ice cream leaves me shaking and sweaty, so that was probably
a good last meal. I don't miss it...

i went to a mexican restaurant and had a big dinner while finishing it up
with a sopapilla. All the week prior to surgery I was eating different
places for lunch and dinner. I think it is good to be going ot Olive Garden
because you won't be able to have much pasta after surgery because of all
the carbs. I had to be on liquids for 2 days prior to surgery. That stunk!
Good luck with your surgery and I will look forward to you joining me and
everyone else on the losing side!
