PLEASE HELP ME I NEED INFO ON INDIVIDUAL INS CO THAT WILL APPROVE WLS IN TEXAS ,

I was turned down by my husbands job insurance , ,they dont pay for any weight loss surgery , even if it is medically necessary , my bmi is 51 , im at 303 or more , i have many problems due to my weight , and im having a hard time finding a insurance company to get a individual policy that will pay for the surgery . My sister was told from bluecross and blue shield they dont pay for wls in Texas . I need all the help I can get Im at my ropes ends. Rhonda, I am a licensed Life and Health Care Broker in Connecticut. I had an RNY procedure April 3, 2002. Have you appealed the Ins Comapny's denial? If not start there. Then, if they still deny the procedure check with the State of Texas Insurance Dept to see if there is another independent review board to go to. The last resort is to file a complaint with the U.S. Dept. Of Labor - the insurance companies DO NOT like it when outsiders get involved in their business, be it State or Federal. GOOD LUCK and keep at them, they have to give you a valid reason why they will not cover this procedure.
