Question:
Is it possible to lose 20 pounds a month for six months or longer?
Call it wishful thinking if you want, but so far (for eleven weeks) I've been losing about 5 pounds per week. I do exercise 5 days a week. I was wondering, is it possible to keep that rate up, at least during my "honeymoon" period of six months? The way I've calculated it, if I keep up this pace I'll lose all my weight by the end of the year, which would mean almost 180 pounds in eight months! Am I crazy for even thinking this could be a possibility? For longer post-ops, for how long was your weight loss steady? Also, if it matters, I'm 24. — Phoebe J. (posted on July 16, 2002)

I was losing 5 pounds a week too for the first 2 to 3 months. Then it
dropped down to 3 pounds a week for months 3 to 6. Since month 6, I've
averaged about 1.5 pounds per week. The closer you get to your goal
weight, the more it slows down. As long as your losing weight, be happy.
It's when you stop losing weight that will drive you insane.

I doubt very much that it will continue much longer. It would be nice, but
not likely.

i had an open r.n.y. november the 2nd, 2001, at 8 months out i had lost
215#'s, nearly 27 pounds per month,, but i had one or 2 slower months,, i
"averaged" 27#'s, but didn't always lose exactly 27#'s each
month, like the last poster said, everyone loses at different rates,, but
the main goal is "we all" lose weight over time,, the main goal..
good luck
