Question:
Any suggestions on how to keep yourself cleaner?

I had asked someone the chat room a couple of nights ago, I know this is an embarassing question, and some suggested baby wipes and shower hoses for the shower. I shower daily but it is so hard to try and and keep fresh and reach those "certain areas". Any suggestions would be helpful, Thanks Have a wonderful day!    — Donna O. (posted on June 24, 2002)

Donna, before my WLS I used deodorient everywhere I thought I might need it, in my leg crease, under my panni, in my belly button, under my breasts, even at 147# I still do it. I also used a LOT of wipies, baby powder, and body mists (the powder and mists will get in those hard-to-reach places) :) Hope this will help you out some? Hugs!

I have to agree with Grace on this one~ The tongs were a life saver to me. I would use two sheets of the new barely wet damp toliet paper and kinda wrp them arount the tongs. It was easy for me toreach all of those hard to reach places. Candi

IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER MY SURGERY, I WAS SO SORE AND SWOLLEN THAT NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRIED I COULD NOT REACH BEHIND TO WIPE AND THE THE STUFF THAT WE DRINK FOR THE LEAK TEST CAN AND DID CAUSE DIAREAH AND I WAS SO EMBARRASSED THAT A NURSE HAD TO HELP WIPE ME AND FINALLY I ASKED IF THEY COULD GET ME A SQUIRT BOTTLE FROM THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE I KNEW THEY HAD THEM FOR WHEN WOMEN HAVE BABIES, THEY ALWAYS GIVE YOU A EMPTY BOTTLE TO CLEAN YOURSELF WITH AND SHE GOT IT AND IT WORKED WONDERFULLY SO EITHER GET ONE BEFORE SURGERY AND TAKE IT WITH YOU OR ASK THEM FOR IT AND TAKE IT HOME- IT WAS THE BEST AND EASIEST WAY TO STAY CLEAN. At home I have found the best thing to be a $20 Shower Massage from Walmart. It is on a hose so you can either take it down to use (to clean there) or have it up on the stand to shower normally. I love it! It screws onto the existing shower pipe so you don't have to do any modifications to the bath or shower to install it.
