My surgeon told me I can never take Advil (Ibuprofen) again. She told me
to use Tylenol.

I don't think we can ever taken advil or aleve again. I was given a shot of
motrin in the ER and it gave me a bleeding ulcer. Tracy

In answer to your question on Advil or Aleve..You will never to able to
take the following: Ibuprofen, asprin, mortin.aleve,bc powders, excedrin.
The only ones you can take are Rx celebrex or vioxx.

I took Advil liqui-gel caps the day I came home from the hospital for pain
control, rather than get the prescription filled for pain. I still take it
whenever I get a headache. By the way, most times, whenever I DO get a
headache, it's because I am dehydrated and need water. That simple.

Don't take either - you have to take Tylenol for the rest of your life...

Please remember that all surgeons' instructions vary. My surgeon allows
advil/ibuprofen but discourages aspirin. I have taken an occasional(1
tablet once a week, maybe?) ibuprofen and am 17 months post op and have not
had any problems. I think being 140 pounds smaller helps in that I can take
a small dose with good relief. Pre-op I preferred excedrin for headaches,
but have not taken any post op due to the aspirin content. When others say
things like "you can never...", please remember that that is what
they were instructed to do. Your instructions may vary. Good luck!

You cannot take any aspirin products at all. Tylenol is the only thing you
can take.

My surgeon said you can take liquid advil with meals, but not for a
prolonged basis. Just a few days at a time. I haven't tried it yet, but am
getting a root canal and they want me to take advil as an anti-iflamitory
for a few days after the root canal. Surgeon said it was OK as long as it
was with food and only for a couple of days.
