Question:
Anyone had laser treatment for facial hair?
I spend about 1/2 hour every other day plucking my chin. I went for very expensive electrolysis(sp)for 2 years. No change. I am very interested to hear from someone that has had laser treatment. I need to know how effective it is, cost, pain, discoloration, how many treatments did you need? — Janine S. (posted on April 11, 2002)

I have had laser surgery for hair on my neck under my chin from foolishly
shaving there as a teen. It cost $700 for 3 treatments. I have doene 2
treatments so far and have very little hair. It's a quick treatment and
they run a laser against your skin. It kind of looks like a glue gun. When
it zaps a hair it feels like a rubberband snapping against your skin. It's
over quickly and is a little red for a couple of hours. They gave me lotion
to but on it for a couple of days. The hairs shed out and are gone forever.

Was any of it blond? I have been told that it may not react to blond hair-
curious if anyone had laser on dark hair and it positively affected any
light hairs around it?!

I had 2 laser treatments, and it worked very well, except all the hair did
come back, it lasted about 3 months and gradually came back. I was pleased
with the results so I probably will do it again

My treatments required 3 visits for each area. First I had my chin done,
then my upper lip. Also, the technician did little touch-ups on my chin
area for a small fee, so my chin really had 6 treatments. Nothing has come
back! I hope that soon the lazer will be able to kill the white hairs, too
- I'll be the first in line.

For laser surgery the hairs do have to be on the dark side they can not be
those light baby fine hairs because those would just go back anyways.

I had electrolysis done many many times on my chin and upper lip, it always
came back. I had laser treatments done on my neck, chin and upper lip, I
signed up for 6 treatments for $500. It worked great for several months,
but the hair grew back. The technician told me that if you have excessive
hormones the hair will grow back, my gynocologist confirmed that. I was
diagnosed with Graves disease 6 months ago, I am hyperthyroid and that is
probably why my previous treatments were unsucessful. I do plan on trying
it again after I lose the weight and my thyroid is under control.

Hiya, I had laser treament for facial hair. It did work on the dark hairs,
but alas, the blonde hairs remain. As for the laser itself, well, it feels
like you're getting zapped by a laser. I did'nt cry but the tears were
ready! OW! But I will be doing it again this year.
