Question:
Are their statistics reflecting post-ops requiring revisions after RNY?
I am about 6 weeks post op and am terrified about having to go through surgery again. Not that the first time was terrible, but I understand the risks are higher with additional surgery due to scar tissue. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated! — Christie S. (posted on February 27, 2002)

Christie, why do you think you would need a revision? Most rny surgeries
do not require a revision and if transected, your pouch is permanent. I
had to have a revision with my original rny because the first time I wasn't
transected. I had two surgeries in one year, but most don't have to have
another surgery unless it is gall bladder, hernia repair, or TT or
something. Was your pouch
transected (cut apart) from your old stomach? Don't worry just enjoy the
new life. Good luck! You will do fine!
