My doctor didn't require any proof of earlier dieting attempts. Neither
did my insurance company. I am 55 years old adn was 200 pounds overweight
and I had a long visit with the surgeon - he could tell that I had
researched the procedure, knew the risks and benefits, and knew what I
wanted. That was on October 30 and I had my surgery November 29. I had my
2 1/2 month post-op check-up today and I have lost 66 pounds. I am so
pleased - and so happy. This is the best thing I have ever done for
myself.

As part of the initial consultation with my surgeon, we discussed all of my
prior weight-loss attempts and he made a record of that information.
However, neither he nor my insurance providers required proof of
weight-loss efforts. I think that this varies from surgeon to surgeon.
Good luck!
