Question:
I worry about being able to stay hydrated playing golf, tennis, and hiking.
I'm used to playing golf, tennis, and hiking in the mountains. I usually drink large amounts of water during these activities. Will I be able to keep myself hydrated after surgery? Is there any limit to the amount of water you can drink? — Ted L. (posted on September 10, 2001)

Everyone is different, but I personally don't have any real limits on how
much I can drink. I just can't drink fast, which isn't good for keeping
hydrated, anyway. Up in Seattle, on the first day of the Avon 3-Day Walk, a
lot of people were hospitalized for dehydration. I, however, was not one of
them. If you keep sipping your water and do something to keep your sodium
level reasonable, you'll be fine.
