I am 1.5 weeks post op and have been able toe at 4oz. and still feel hungry. I am full but I still want more to eat. HELP PLEASE....I need to know how to keep my mind off food. I dont want to have any bad complications from this. I have no other post op problems, everything has gone well for me so far. Im not sure what I should do?? — Amy G. (posted on July 14, 2001)

I am assuming since you are only 1 1/2 weeks out, you are still on clear
liquids or pureed foods. If that is the case, don't worry, these foods pass
through your system so fast, that is why you are able to eat more. If it
was chicken or steak, I doubt you would be able to eat as much. I suffer
from 'head hunger' also. I'm sure many of us do, and that's how we got into
the situation of needing WLS to begin with. Please remember that surgery is
a tool, and not a cure. I know you didn't want to go through all of this
for nothing.... I would recommend stopping when you are satisfied, don't
eat until you feel full or stuffed. It will probably make you sick anyway.
I find that having sugar free candies around, or healthy snacks help alot
with the head hunger. While I still have the hand to mouth thing going, I
am not indulging myself. Good luck to you!
