Question:
Does anyone have any ideas on a weight gain of 4 poundss?
I am 15 weeks post op. I have lost about 70 pounds or so. The plateaus are just killing me. However this week I have gained about 4 pounds. I am also retaining fluids as my ankles seem a bit swollen. Should I worry about this or just drink MORE water? — Michele H. (posted on March 2, 2001)

A couple of weeks ago, I had my first gain, and I was terrified. After I
thought about what I had been eating, I realized that I had been craving
salty stuff, and that was probably the reason for my gain. I weigh every
week, so the following week, I really watched my salt intake, drank more
water, and exercised more. When I went for my weekly weigh in, not only
had I lost the 3lbs that I had gained, but also an additional three pounds.
Don't stress about it. You're probably retaining fluid. Also I tend to
retain fluid when it's almost time for my monthly.

Have you had labs drawn yet? Did you get copies for yourself? How much
water are you getting in? 64+ oz? Are you faithfully getting in the 60g+
of predigested protein supplement?

Water retention? Weight gain? When is your period?

Are you weighing first thing in the morning before eating or drinking
anything. Because, I weigh about 4 pounds more at night than in the
morning. If you are working the plan, I wouldn't worry yet.

I agree with Tracey- haw is your salt intake. I know there
are times I crave salt and then I retain water. Try cutting
back on the salt if you are eating alot and drinking more
water.
