Question:
Lost weight and was then turned down for surgery?
I have my first consult in two weeks. I weighed enough for Tricare to refer me to a surgeon. I have lost a couple of pounds because I am so nervous, what if my doctor tells me I am not heavy enough now? Thank you. — Kimberly H. (posted on February 5, 2001)

My story is similar to yours. I am 5'4 and weigh 236...I heard the cutoff
is 238 for my height. I stepped on the scale today and weighed 234. I
also have Tricare Prime, but am stationed at Aviano,AFB in Italy. It is
amazing what we have to put up with and what the insurance requires.
I originally saw my PCM last week who referred me to the general
surgeon...turns out the general surgeon lied to me and never made the phone
calls he promised. There is a doc at Lakenheath,AFB in England who does
Bariatric surgery, but is PCSing in May. I received an email from him this
morning and he is going to get me in for a referral.
With the weight issue, I have heard everything from people stuffing their
bras with quarters to putting on weight belts under their clothes. LOL I
guess anything goes.
I guess you'll have to eat more to keep your weight steady until your
surgery. Best of Luck to you and hope all goes well for you. Take Care
Victoria :)
