Question:
I am insured through Carefirst BC/BS...has anyone had this insurance?

Hi! I have a BCBS PPO plan. Although our program lists an exclusion for "the treatment of obesity," they did approve my surgery. Keep in mind, that Employers have different contracts with BCBS--even if the plan has the same name. I started out with one surgeon, but BCBS would'nt cover much of his fees--A BCBS rep called me personally to tell me my surgery was approved, but also recommended that I seek an "on par provider," as they have a negotiated rate with BCBS--so I did. This meant that the request for surgery precertification has to be resubmitted by another surgeon--I got approval within 3-4 weeks! Hope this is helpful! Kathy in CO
