I am looking for any PCP's in the San Fernando Valley

I am looking for any PCP's in the San Fernando Valley area that are supportive of WLS. I have PacifiCare HMO insurance. My original PCP has been telling me for 5 years that I need to lose weight and now all of a sudden she doesn't think I need to. I have already gone to 3 different docotrs and they were all against WLS... all were in the same medical group.    — Laurie W. (posted on March 1, 2000)

I have greater Valley medical group... it is in Mission Hills. My doctor though he doesn't believe in the surgery is bringing my request for a referral to the board of directors personally. What ever doctor you get doesn't have to agree with the proceedure... simply be firm with them and request the referral. If they refuse to give you the referral call the insurance company directly and discuss you weight concerns and co-morbitys with them directly. I have found that the direct approach has helped me a great deal in my battle for approval. My doctor is bringing my case to the board Today actually (say a prayer for me if you will, I will be saying one for you). :) good luck and god bless Sydnie
