I have SSI and you do not get medicare with that. I applied for SSDI and
then I recieved medicare. But that doesn't even happen until you are on for
2 years. I was on SSI since 1996. Then I went in and asked for SS and was
approved. I just recieved madicare Dec.1st. You get welfare insurance as
soon as you you apply for SS or SSI, and they pay for the surgery too. So
you don't have to wait for 2 years to get medicare. If you have more
questions write me [email protected]

Medicaid coverage is automatic with eligibility for SSI and there is no
waiting period, as there is with SSDI (Social Security Disability
Insurance). It is possible to be eligible for either or both SSI and SSDI.
WLS is a covered benefit through Medicaid in some states. Apply at your
local Social Security Administration office. For more information, e-mail
me directly.
