I had surgery there on August 31, 1999. I have talked with a girl who works there and she had it done this year also. She had no complications and the cost was 42,000.00. The BTC does not take self pay people. This price also does not include your follow up visits. You are charged for seeing the surgeon and any lab work that needs to be done. I did not know this. I thought the astronomical price included all post op care.

I had my surgery at BTC in Addison, Michigan. I was admitted on a Monday and released on Friday. I have Cigna PPO insurance. I have kept track of all my bills so far, and added a table to my web site for anyone who is interested. It's near the bottom of the page at this URL http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/4527/wlsstory.html

PLEASE check out other facilities. BTC is greatly overpriced compared to other facilities I researched. In WI, I priced open and lap procedures through two facilities each. Here is what I learned... (Open: 17K & 21K, Lap: 26k & 32k) These costs were all inclusive, including follow-up. My insurance paid the full 26k, I am 1-year post-op, down 160 lbs. This was through an extrememly experienced lap surgeon who has performed hundreds of these procedures (Meriter Hospital - Madison).
