Question:
ATT: POST OP WOMEN! NEED FEEDBACK, please READ ON
Im a year and half out from surgery. ive lost 135 lbs. Ive missed my last 2 periods and im not pregnant. I recently stopped taking my BC to try and tigger it. i take progesterone only pills (pops). ive read that stress, weighloss, etc can cause a woman to miss her periods (and ive had all 3). but i want to know if it happened to any of you this far out. ive been plateaued for over a month now and im fine with that... i just want to hear any similar stories and what the outcomes were thanks so much, in advance, for your support. — Kymberly H. I had my surgery in July I missed my period in Jan and Feb I got it in
March but then I got it 2 times in April. I have lost 140 around the same
so my thought is maybe at that weight loss. I am also hitting a plateau.
I have only lost 5 pounds in the past 2 and half months

How old are you? Are you possibly close to perimenopausal age, in your mid
to late 40's? I started at that stage to have irregular periods. Speak with
your PCP and or GYN on this subject, it is really more for a clinician to
answer.

I have not missed any periods but mine will not go away. I went to my GYN
yesterday and was told that he had seen alot of gastric patients with
irregular period problems. He stated with the RAPID weightloss it causes
the hormones to rage out of control. I am having the ablation process done
(to keep from having a hesterectomy) since I am under 30. He did prescribe
BC to help regulate monthly.

Progesterone will keep you from getting your period. I did a few years of
fertility drugs and while I was cycling used progesterone....when I would
get a negative pregnancy test the doc would take me off them and a few days
later my period would start.

Ask your doctor to test your prolactin and your FSH levels. Preop, I did
not have a period for almost a year after discontinuing depo provera shots.
After several different blood tests it they found out I had a slightly
elevated prolactin level and that was why I wasn't having a period. I took
a pill once a week for 8 weeks and my period came back and my prolactin
level was normal when retested.
